General types of oral surgeries and the need
An oral surgical process is any procedure that involves making changes to the soft tissues in the oral cavity, using surgical instruments, in order to achieve improvement in oral health and esthetics of the teeth and gums. We are a General Dentist. The surgery is performed with the help of local anesthesia. Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas) is available as well to reduce any anxiety.
Dr. Hasken may recommend tooth extraction when the tooth is severely decayed to an extent where it is non-functional and is posing threat of spreading infection. The tooth may have to be surgically extracted if it is not in a favorable position where the dentist can use simple instruments remove it. Third molars, also referred to as wisdom teeth may be referred to one of the oral surgery practices we work with in the area. The surgical removal may be suggested for wisdom tooth extraction where the impacted wisdom teeth are posing threat to oral health, we work closely with some very good oral surgeons in our area.
Dental implant surgery
The implants are restorations for lost tooth root that can be surgically placed in the jawbone to serve as an artificial root. We work as a team with periodontists and oral surgeons in our area. Dr. Hasken meets with the specialist face to face to plan out the placement and desired end result. 3 D imaging is reviewed as well as conventional x-rays and models of the patient’s jaws structure to get the optimal placement position. Once the healing process is complete, Dr. Hasken continues with the restoration of the implant with a specialized crown, bridge or attachment depending on what the situation involves. This surgical process for dental implant is one with high success rates of around 98%. Dental implants can be used for single or multiple teeth.
Full mouth reconstruction
The full mouth reconstruction, where a number of teeth are restored in the oral cavity by making appropriate changes to the soft gum tissues, requires experience and skills. The process may involve making appropriate changes to soft tissues and the supporting bone in order to help reconstruction. We team up with our selected specialists of oral surgeons, periodontists and orthodontists in a highly coordinated manner led by Dr. Hasken in McHenry IL and Crystal Lake IL to obtain the best outcome for you.
